Carolyn Burnett, L.M.T., Reiki Master, Qigong Facilitator, Food Healing Chef Instructor
After graduating from the Austin School of Massage Therapy, I've worked diligently to continue my education in massage therapy and body work. I have taken classes in Post-Surgical Adhesion Therapy, Kinesiology Taping, Qigong style Reflexology plus multiple Myofascial Release and Craniosacral Therapy courses. Additionally, I received my Reiki Master Certification and have taken additional courses in energy work including Therapeutic Touch and Qigong Healing.
My mission with body work is to help people help themselves inside and out. I enjoy people and love to watch them heal and feel better. I believe that massage therapy is one of the best body awareness tools available and through body awareness we all individually learn what is working and what is not working. I like to combine techniques during sessions to give clients specialized attention to address their specific concerns and needs. I believe a diverse array of therapies optimizes health and healing. I believe all massage therapists and body workers have varied specialties and gifts and not one therapist can be all to a client. I receive therapy from several different practitioners and encourage my clients to do the same. When necessary I share at home practices and refer clients out to Acupuncture, Chiropractic, Life Coaches, Mental Health Therapy, Physical Therapy, Yoga and yes, even other massage therapists.
Additional interests of mine are cooking and art. I graduated at the top of my class from Le Cordon Bleu and earned my BFA (Bachelors of Fine Arts) from Hardin-Simmons University. I also hold a Certification as an Advanced Food Healing Instructor through the Supreme Science organization. My education enabled me to reverse a personal debilitating disease through diet, home cooking and nutrition. I will be launching "The Manic Organic Chef" in the future which I plan to integrate into my practice. Staying healthy is a priority for me. I prepare and cook most of my meals at home and get regular exercise through the practices of Qigong, breath work, meditation, walking and lifting weights.
I am also a proud mom of one and grandmother to two beautiful grandchildren.
